Daily Quote

I was thinking on the poems that I had posted relating to Christmas and i started going through my collection, and I found another poem relating to Christmas.  I have had it for awhile, but I don’t know who originally wrote it.  If anyone does know please let me know.

It is called . . . . .

The Christmas Spirit

I am the Christmas Spirit

I enter the homes of poverty, causing pale – faced children to open their eyes in pleased wonder.

I cause the Miser’s clutched hand to relax and thus paint a  bright spot on his soul.

I cause the aged to renew their youth and to laugh in the glad old way.

I keep the romance alive in the heart of childhood and brighten sleep with dreams woven of magic.

I cause eager feet to climb dark stairways with filled baskets, leaving behind them amazed at the goodness of the world.

I cause the prodigal to pause a moment on his wild, wasteful way, and send to anxious love some little token that releases glad tears – tears that wash away the hard lines of sorrow.

I enter the dark prison cells, reminding scarred manhood of what might have been, pointing forward to good days yet to come.

I come softly into the still, white home of pain; and lips that are too weak to speak just tremble in silent, eloquent gratitude.

In a thousand ways I cause the weary world to look up into the face of God, and for a little moment forget the things that are small and wretched.

I am the Christmas Spirit

It is such a beautiful poem, and captures so beautifully the true spirit of christmas.  So I hope you like it.  And if you can help me identify the author of it I would be gratefull. So once again I bid you Adieu till next time.

Daily Quotes

Being the christmas season I thought it appropriate to post some poems that I have about this wonderful season of thankgiving for the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

To start off here is a poem by a lady called Lucille Jensen, called “Why The Nativity?”

Why The Nativity?

Why a babe

swaddled,

warmed,

held to Mary’s heart,

born to men through

Deity?

Why a Star,

And kings afar

Kneeling, feeling?

Why a stable,

and shepards able

Worshipping in fields

Of angels?

Why a life

So pure

be taken,

Shaken in Gethsemane,

Then struck upon

A violent cross?

Why?

For me

For me!

Lucille Jensen

Next I have what I call a Christmas Letter, it was given to my wife by a friend.  And i think it is just right for the season.

A Christmas Letter

If you look for me at christmas

you won’t need a special star

I’m no longer just in Bethlehem

I’m right there where you are

You may not be aware of me amid the celebrations

You’ll have to look beyond the stores and all the decorations

But if you take a moment from your

list of things to do and listen to

Your heart you’ll find I’m waiting there for you.

Your the one I want to be with,

Your the reason that I came and you’ll

find me in the stillness as I’m

whispering your name.

Love  Jesus

I hope that these poems help you to remember why we celebrate christmas.  So I wish you all the best for this christmas season.  And hope that you and your families have a great christmas together.  Always remember the reason for this holiday season.

So I bid you adiu, till the next time.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas to all. I was searching through my collection to see if I had any quotes that would be in keeping with this special day; and I came across a couple that I think keep the spirit of this day.

The Christmas Spirit

I am the Christmas Spirit

I enter the home of poverty, causing pale – faced children
To open their eyes in pleased wonder
I cause the miser’s clutched hand to relax and thus paint a
Bright spot on his soul
I cause the aged to renew their youth and to laugh in
The glad old way
I keep romance alive in the heart of childhood and brighten
Sleep with dreams woven of magic
I cause eager feet to climb dark stairways with filled
Baskets, leaving behind them hearts amazed at the
Goodness of the world
I cause the prodigal to pause a moment on his wild,
Wasteful way, and send to anxious love some little token
That releases glad tears – tears that wash away the
Hard lines of sorrow
I enter the dark prison cells, reminding scarred manhood of
What might have been, pointing forward to good
Days yet to come
I come softly into the still, white home of pain; and lips
That are too weak to speak just tremble in silent,
Eloquent gratitude
In a thousand ways I cause the weary world to look up
Into the face of God, and for a little moment forget the
Things that are small and wretched.

I am the Christmas Spirit.

and also this

The Joy of Giving

Somehow, not only for Christmas
But all the year long through
The joy you give others
Is the joy that comes back to you
And the more you spend in blessing
The poor and lonely and sad
The more of your hearts possessing
Returns to make you glad.

John Greenleaf Whittier

Let us always remember that christmas is not just about giving and receiving gifts it is also a celbration of the birth of Jesus Christ and the gift of a loving Father in Heaven of his only begotten in the flesh, his Son, Jesus Christ.

Merry Christmas to one and all.
