Daily Quotes

Well it’s that time of year once again when everyone is thinking about and considering what goals they are going to set either for themselves or and their families. My wife and I are in the process of doing that just now.

Keeping that in mind I would like to share with you a few of my favorite quotes in regards to setting goals and a few others I feel are appropriate.

To start off, and something we all need to remember:

“Nothing can be changed until we face it.”

Now the next two quotes are my favorites. And I always keep them in mind when I think of settting new goals.  First is one by Spencer W Kimble, former Apostle and President of “The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.”

“Goals should always be made to a point that will make us reach and strain.  Success should not necessarily be gauged by always reaching the goal set, but by progress and attainment.”

Spencer W Kimball

I like this quote simply because it remnds me of  the need to set realistic goals and that even though I may not achieve the goal itself, I can measure my success by how far I have progressed in reaching that goal.

Our next quote goes in conjunction with the previous quote in that once you have set a goal you need to monitor your progress. This quote comes from Oscar Leslie Stone, better known as O Leslie Stone a  general authority of “The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.”

“We must constantly review the past, determine our present status, and set goals for the future.  Without this process there is little chance of reaching one’s objectives.”

O Leslie Stone

Which brings us to the last quote of the day.  I came across this particular quote in a book I read once which dealt briefly on, among other things, setting goals. No author was attributed to the quote, which goes like this –

“A goal not written is only a wish.”

In other words unless you write down your goals, they are only wishful thinking. One other thing I would like to say in regards to setting goals is that when you write your goals down, you should put them where you can see them, (I like to put my written goals in the area that I spend the most time in), so that you can be reminded of the goals you have set yourself.

That is enough from me for now, so once again I bid you Adieu till next time.

Daily Quote

I was thinking on the poems that I had posted relating to Christmas and i started going through my collection, and I found another poem relating to Christmas.  I have had it for awhile, but I don’t know who originally wrote it.  If anyone does know please let me know.

It is called . . . . .

The Christmas Spirit

I am the Christmas Spirit

I enter the homes of poverty, causing pale – faced children to open their eyes in pleased wonder.

I cause the Miser’s clutched hand to relax and thus paint a  bright spot on his soul.

I cause the aged to renew their youth and to laugh in the glad old way.

I keep the romance alive in the heart of childhood and brighten sleep with dreams woven of magic.

I cause eager feet to climb dark stairways with filled baskets, leaving behind them amazed at the goodness of the world.

I cause the prodigal to pause a moment on his wild, wasteful way, and send to anxious love some little token that releases glad tears – tears that wash away the hard lines of sorrow.

I enter the dark prison cells, reminding scarred manhood of what might have been, pointing forward to good days yet to come.

I come softly into the still, white home of pain; and lips that are too weak to speak just tremble in silent, eloquent gratitude.

In a thousand ways I cause the weary world to look up into the face of God, and for a little moment forget the things that are small and wretched.

I am the Christmas Spirit

It is such a beautiful poem, and captures so beautifully the true spirit of christmas.  So I hope you like it.  And if you can help me identify the author of it I would be gratefull. So once again I bid you Adieu till next time.

Daily Quotes

Being the christmas season I thought it appropriate to post some poems that I have about this wonderful season of thankgiving for the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

To start off here is a poem by a lady called Lucille Jensen, called “Why The Nativity?”

Why The Nativity?

Why a babe

swaddled,

warmed,

held to Mary’s heart,

born to men through

Deity?

Why a Star,

And kings afar

Kneeling, feeling?

Why a stable,

and shepards able

Worshipping in fields

Of angels?

Why a life

So pure

be taken,

Shaken in Gethsemane,

Then struck upon

A violent cross?

Why?

For me

For me!

Lucille Jensen

Next I have what I call a Christmas Letter, it was given to my wife by a friend.  And i think it is just right for the season.

A Christmas Letter

If you look for me at christmas

you won’t need a special star

I’m no longer just in Bethlehem

I’m right there where you are

You may not be aware of me amid the celebrations

You’ll have to look beyond the stores and all the decorations

But if you take a moment from your

list of things to do and listen to

Your heart you’ll find I’m waiting there for you.

Your the one I want to be with,

Your the reason that I came and you’ll

find me in the stillness as I’m

whispering your name.

Love  Jesus

I hope that these poems help you to remember why we celebrate christmas.  So I wish you all the best for this christmas season.  And hope that you and your families have a great christmas together.  Always remember the reason for this holiday season.

So I bid you adiu, till the next time.
